Why Solace exists

It is nine in the evening. The thing you meant to do today is still not done, and you have now spent more time avoiding it than it would have taken to finish. You know what you are supposed to do about this. You have read the articles, downloaded the app, bought the notebook. None of that is in the room with you right now.

Solace exists for that moment, and not much else.

Advice was never the problem

There is no shortage of good information about ADHD.

Break it down. Use a timer. Find a body double. Set a reminder. None of that is wrong, and almost none of it survives contact with an actual bad Tuesday, because every one of those strategies quietly assumes you can do the setup first: define the opening step, pick a duration, find a person, remember at the moment the reminder matters.

That assumption is the whole problem. Executive function is the thing running unreliably, and most tools ask you to spend it before they give anything back.

The tools have the same shape. A habit tracker records that you did not do the thing. A to-do list holds the task you cannot start and adds nothing that helps you start it. A reminder fires once, at the worst possible moment, and then it is gone.

That is not a failing on your part. It is a mismatch. The support arrives as information, and the problem is execution.

What it does instead

The whole product is what happens after the advice.

It breaks the task down with you, not for you

Solace asks what the thing actually is and works out the steps in conversation, the first one deliberately easy, rather than handing over a finished checklist you had no part in writing.

Write project proposal

You're doing great, stay with it

Cancel timer

It stays while you work

A focus timer that opens the block, checks in halfway and marks the end. Body doubling that keeps the session running on screen and checks in as it goes, because the person who could sit with you is rarely free at the hour you are stuck.

8:00 AM (daily)

It follows up more than once

Reminders escalate by default rather than firing a single notification you can swipe away: thirty minutes before, then fifteen, then five, then at the time itself.

Focus

It remembers, so you are not re-explaining yourself

Solace keeps track of the people, goals, moods and strategies you mention, and ends a session with a report: mood and energy, what came up, and concrete next steps.

What it will not do

The refusals are part of the design.

Solace is a coach, not a therapist, and it is not a substitute for professional medical care, therapy, or formal ADHD coaching. It does not diagnose. It will not suggest a medication or a dose, and it gives no medical, legal or financial advice.

It also will not tell you that you needed to want it more, or treat a bad week as evidence about who you are. Missing one day does not erase a streak. Shame gets treated as what it is, a cost that consumes exactly the executive function you need in order to move, rather than as something to motivate you with.

And it says so when a pattern looks bigger than a scheduling problem. If you have been unable to start anything for weeks, that overlaps with depression and burnout as much as with ADHD, and it is worth raising with a professional rather than solving with a smarter timer.

Your data is yours

Private by construction, not by promise.

Everything you tell Solace is encrypted in transit and at rest. Every read and every write goes through a server-side authorization layer that resolves who you are from your signed-in identity rather than from anything the app sends, so your records stay isolated from everyone else’s. Files you upload live in a private bucket and are reachable only through short-lived links generated for you.

Delete your account and the erasure is an explicit sweep: every table holding your rows, the connector tokens, and the uploaded file bytes themselves. The privacy policy has the full detail, including which services process your data and what each one sees.

I built Solace for myself first, and I still use it every day.

I have ADHD. For a long time I assumed the gap between what I meant to do and what I actually did was a discipline problem, and I tried to close it by trying harder. That never worked. What did work was finding ways of working that fit how my attention actually behaves: breaking things down until the first step was too small to avoid, having something stay with me while I worked, and being followed up by something that did not give up after one notification.

I do not think of ADHD as a defect. Worked with rather than against, mine is a superpower, and the days it does not feel like one are exactly the days a system has to carry you. Solace is those ways of working gathered into one place so the system is already there when I need it.

I wanted to put it in other people’s hands too. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Solace is not a clinical product, it has not been through a trial, and nothing on this site should be read as a medical claim. It connects to Claude and ChatGPT as a custom connector, on the free plan as well as Pro, so the coaching tools are reachable from wherever you already talk to an assistant.

Questions and problems go to support@my-solace.app.

Try it on the thing you are avoiding

The honest first test is the task you have been circling all week. Tell Solace what it is, and let it take the opening step off your hands.

Free to start. No credit card required.

Rather read first? There is writing on ADHD without the shame, and the plans side by side.
